Surrounded by classic automobiles, dignitaries and state employees gathered on February 23 to celebrate state workers’ generosity to nonprofits, despite budget cuts and furloughs. The event included breakfast, awards and presentations by state dignitaries.

The generosity of the state employees was also celebrated by RUOFS, the popular cow in front of Ruland's Office Furniture in downtown Sacramento.

The California State Employees Charitable Campaign was established in 1957 to provide a single charitable fundraising drive in the state employee community. This is the fifty-fourth year CSECC has provided state employees with the opportunity to use payroll deduction to support their favorite charitable organizations. The statewide campaign encompasses 31 regional campaigns throughout the state and more than 280,000 state employees. Through the campaign last year, more than 41,000 donors supported thousands of nonprofits with pledges totaling nearly $7 million.
